MEET PENNY – LOOKING FOR A VERY SPECIAL HOME

Meet Penny, a beautiful fluffy tortie girl of around 18 months old who is looking for a quiet, patient indoor-only home where she can finally feel safe and settled.

Penny’s story is a sad one. She was originally adopted from us as a happy, friendly little kitten, but around a year later she was surrendered back into our care a very different cat.

We don’t know what happened during that time, and we may never know, but Penny came back to us extremely frightened and stressed. It has taken a lot of time, patience and gentle care to help her find her way back to the sweet girl we knew.

Her stress has also taken a physical toll, with Penny experiencing two episodes of stress-related cystitis since returning to us. Because of this, finding the right environment for her is incredibly important.

Penny must be an indoor-only cat. She needs the security and predictability of a home where she isn’t exposed to the stresses and uncertainties of the outside world. Her new family will need to be committed to keeping her safely indoors for life and providing her with plenty of enrichment, comfortable hiding places, sunny spots, scratching posts and places to climb and watch the world from inside.

She also needs to be the only cat, with no dogs and no young children. A busy or unpredictable household simply wouldn’t be the right environment for this sensitive little girl.

When Penny first arrives, she may hide and she may not immediately show you the affectionate cat underneath. She needs someone who won’t rush her or expect too much too soon. Give her time, let her decide when she’s ready, and slowly that lovely, smoochy personality starts to appear.

And that’s the Penny we want someone to fall in love with.

She is a sweet, loving little girl who has already been through enough upheaval in her short life. This time, we want her home to be somewhere she can truly settle, feel secure and stay.

If you have a peaceful home and, most importantly, the time, love and patience to let Penny come to you when she’s ready, you’ll be rewarded with a very special little furry friend.

ADOPTION INFORMATION

All Coast to Coast cats and kittens are desexed, have received their first vaccination, are microchipped and are up to date with flea and worm treatments.

All cats under 5 years of age also come with 30–42 days of free pet insurance.

We are based in the Bay of Islands, Northland. Please ensure you are able to travel or meet transport requirements when applying. Transport is generally limited to Northland and Auckland.

This adoption fee goes towards the cat's costs of:

• Worm and Flea treatments
• De-sexing
• Vet Book
• Vaccinations – based on age of cat or kitten. A booster vaccination may be required.
• Microchipping and Registration

Trial and refunds

Your cat or kitten will be on trial for 14 days. If for any reason the adoption does not work out by the final day, we will refund your adoption fee back to you. Coast to Coast Cat Rescue has made every effort to ensure that all cats and kittens are in good health however, undetectable illnesses may be incubating at the time of adoption. Coast to Coast Cat Rescue holds no responsibility or financial liability for any future illnesses or injuries that may present in the cat or kitten once adopted.

Important information

We understand life changes so if for some reason at any point in the future you can no longer keep your cat, we require that you contact Coast to Coast Cat Rescue and we will take the cat back into our care for rehoming. We have strict policies when it comes to re-homing our cats to ensure the fit is right for you and the animal. We reserve the right to decline any adoption of any cat or kitten to any person or persons if we believe the home would not be suitable.
